World Suicide Prevention Day: My Survivor Story

My name is Vanessa Berben and years ago I survived a suicide attempt. In recognition of World Suicide Prevention Day I’d like to share my story.

I’m a bit of a spaz and kind of nervous to tell this to so many people, but I’ve chosen not to focus as much on what led to my decision because I’d rather talk more about how I found myself again afterwards. Thank you for listening and I invite you to join the conversation in the comments below.

If you’re having thoughts of suicide please get help, please talk to someone. You can call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255 and I’m happy to talk to you as well. If you’re not comfortable reaching out to me in public comments please email 2FingersBerben@gmail.com.

For more information about volunteering at the NSPL please visit: https://suicidepreventionlifeline.org/participate/

If you know someone who is having thoughts of suicide they have a great list of resources here: https://suicidepreventionlifeline.org/help-someone-else/

Thanks everyone, please be kind to one another, you never know what someone else is going through.
